Thermal Animal Detection helps operators locate animal heat signatures in real time from the DJI Pilot 2 live view. The on-board model reports one broad Animal class and was trained on White Hot thermal imagery containing deer, wild boar and livestock. It is a search aid and does not identify species.
Best results come from strong thermal contrast, often in cool conditions, at night or in the early morning. Thermal cameras do not see through vegetation or solid cover, and warm ground features can produce false positives. Treat detection totals as search guidance, not a wildlife census.
